There is no greater deed in the world than helping those in need
Realizing the potential in the unused vulcanized rubber being discarded as trash at NRC Industries (a conveyor-belt manufacturing firm), Guransh Singh Sachdeva sought to make the best out of waste. This led him to found Artisan Recycling (AR) in July 2019, an initiative through which rubber waste is converted into heavy-duty ropes to be used in farming by low income farmers of Rajasthan.
Talking to the village heads of Banswara, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, and Kota during visits to Rajasthan, the team found a lack of availability of sturdy and heavy-duty ropes which are essential for extracting ground water from 250-300 feet below the surface. Learning about the hardships faced by farmers of water-scarce and economically backward areas of Rajasthan, Artisan Recycling has created a network through which the rubber is converted into strong ropes, which are then transported to selected areas in Rajasthan. These ropes are sold at affordable rates to farmers, thus greatly easing their lives. We, at AR, are determined to improve their lives through this initiative.
40% of the earnings from the sale of these ropes go to a partner non-governmental organization ‘Just Sewa Society’ in Amritsar that uses the money to provide better education of underprivileged children.
We have catered to at least 500 farmers selling about 800 ropes so far, while raising Rs. 50000 for the NGO. By mid-2021, we aim to help farmers in other states of India including Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh so as to improve the lives of several others.
